The Municipality of Bluefields according to The Law of Political Administrative Division published in October of 1989, belongs to the South Autonomous Atlantic Region (R.A.A.S).

Bluefields is located in the South Atlantic Region of Nicaragua, on the coast of the Caribbean Sea. The municipal headquarter is the city that takes its same name Bluefields.
